Program areas at Cip-Usa
The Council of International Programs USA (cipusa) promotes International understanding through professional development and cross-cultural exchange. Cipusa is an International exchange organization based in cleveland, Ohio with a network of community partner offices nationwide and an alumni network of 31 countries. Our Programs have been in existence for the past 65 years. Building bridges among cultures has been the heart of cipusa programming from our inception. We strive to foster a better understanding of each other, our professions, and our communities. To help promote our mission, cipusa provides several Programs to support professional development and cross-cultural understanding.
Building bridges program: a six-week profesional development program under various civil society themes. This specific program focuses on personal developemnt, professional development, and community impact. In addition, to fostering inrosepcition and career development, the program aims to give participants the tools to better understand their host community in the u.s. and their own hometowns and to build a bridge to connect the two communities internationally. International residency program: a community partner-based program that places International professionals for training in the nonprofit, government and business sectors throughout the united states. Cipusa community partners work with local community organizations to match and place International professionals for short-term training Programs ranging from one to eighteen months. Through this program, community partners match qualified candidates with relevant training positions and help to develop a challenging and mutually rewarding training plan. Community partners provide accomodations with a host family for several months, and coordinate cross cultural exchange activities and professional networking events. Global partner program : a profesional development program that connects International professionals with organizations throuhghout the united states for internships and training Programs. Participants can be placed anywhere in the u.s. and have already developed a relationship with the organization they seek training. Global learning Programs: cipusa's opportunity to send u.s. citizens abroad. Participants of these program include university students university faculty, and social work professionals. Programs can vary in length but are designed to allow participants to immerse in authentic International experiences. Participants have opportunities to meet with experts in the field, visit organizations dealing with the program topic and learn first-hand cultural differences and similarities.
