Program areas at Citizens' Environmental Coalition Educational Fund

Environmental education - the program connects formal and informal educators in the greater houston area in order to increase the quality of Environmental education. Based on feedback from educators, they are interested in teaching students about the greater houston environment, yet it has become more common to teach about other environments due to a lack of knowledge and teacher materials. In 2023, cec provided educatoinal materials through their online resource directory, and brought together Environmental educators for collaboration through a community of practice run by volunteers known as the Environmental educators exchange (eee)
Outreach programs - cec works to support and promote the work of its members, over 100 organizations that do Environmental work in the houston region. This includes speaking and/or tabling at local Environmental events, inviting member representatives to speak at cec events, and connecting member groups iwth others doing similar or complementary work. Cec also responds to requests from the general public, providing referrals, opinions, and information on various local Environmental topics, as requested. Among the outreach events included the earth day event at discovery green, the greater houston Environmental summit, a green film soiree, and a member meetup, among smaller events.
