LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - To reduce youth crime and violence in Colorado, the organization provided student dropout prevention through its components: After School Program, Weekend Adventures, Summer Expeditions, Support Services, and Teen Workforce Readiness Program. Approximately 265 middle and high school students from low-income families received life skills training and participated in community-based service-learning projects, outdoor skills, alternative activity expeditions (hiking, rafting, swimming, and rock climbing). Students were provided with ongoing, individualized support, including family counseling, weekly school contact, homework help, job coaching, and crisis services as needed. program services that were provided developed leadership and social skills and improved self-concept of the participants. Participants improved academic performance and school attendance.
