Program areas at Clarion Music Society
The Clarion choir & orchestra specializes in Music of the baroque, classical and early romantic periods. The Clarion choir has also developed an international reputation for its performances and recordings of eastern european sacred Music from the early part of the 20th century, particularly the choral works of sergei rachmaninoff, maximilian steinberg, and alexander kastalsky. We have produced four grammy-nominated albums to date, including a recording of rachmaninoff's all-night vigil ('vespers') that was released on the pentatone label on january 27, 2023. Our next planned recording projects include a rachmaninoff's liturgy of st. john chrysostom, to be released in april 2025, and the world premiere recording of contemporary composer alexander levine's vigil for peace.
