Program areas at Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association
Committees: cmba assists the supreme court of Ohio in the administration of the legal profession through the work of several member committees: the certified grievance committee investigated nearly 200 allegations of ethical misconduct by lawyers; the Bar admissions committee conducted 250 character and fitness interviews of Bar applicants; and the unauthorized practice of law committee investigated allegations of non-lawyers practicing law.
Continuing legal education: cmba annually hosts approximately 150 continuing legal education programs, both in-person and virtually. Programs are also made available through an on-demand platform. More than 10,000 individuals attended cmba programs in the 2022-23 fiscal year.
Events & programs: cmba hosts a variety of annual events and programs for the benefit of its 4700 members. Events include a summertime annual meeting, golf outing, bench-bar memorial program and a new lawyers reception. Cmba also operates 15 civics education, pro bono and workforce development programs designed to promote the rule of law, increase access to justice and advance the next generation of legal professionals.
