Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD)focuses on prevention among the African American and Hispanic communities using prevention awareness and education strategies that are grounded in science and evidence-based practices. The state-wide project will deliver a population-based design and two focus-based designs. Population-based preventionactivities will aim to increase awareness among all individuals. Focus-based prevention willaim to increase knowledge and skills for women of child-bearing age, pregnant women, healthcare workers, and students in healthcare training.
UMADAOP - designed to provide pre-treatment and recovery support to specific groups who are addicted and drug-dependent residing in the Greater Cleveland Community.
Multiple Approach Responses Strategies (MARS) program design focuses on 1) preventing accidental opioid overdose deaths; 2) highlighting the success and beauty of minority recovery and reentry, and 3) increasing awareness of thebenefits of harm reduction strategies. The program also uses strategies to deliver populationbased substance use disorder awareness campaigns.
AKOMA uses outreach and provides interim services and recovery support to assist females who are in the child-bearing age range, currently pregnant, current parents with children in-house or in the care of others. The program utilizes its community network of social/medical/behavioral health partners to create treatment/recovery pathways. AKOMA also provides services to other females who are confronting substance abuse and/or legal,trauma issues.
Circle For Recovery Ohio (CFRO)s purpose is to assist ex-offenders by providing reentry and recovery support services with the expectation that there are no new arrests while participants are in the program. Services are also provided for children of incarcerated parents and their families.
OH YES In order to advance individualized prevention, treatment, and care for people of all backgrounds, and to reflect the rich diversity of Ohio, Ohio Healthy Youth Environments Survey (OH YES) desires to address health-related disparities by recruiting communities that have been underrepresented in research. OH YES also seeks to promote community participation in behavioral health needs assessments.
