Program areas at CRWC

The Clinton River Watershed Council offers a variety of programs and services throughout the Watershed. Events include River day and Clinton clean-up. River day events encourage volunteers to take action and celebrate the River and the water environment. Activities include stream bank restoration, native plant installation, invasive species removal, rain garden installation, storm drain stenciling, clean up activities, water quality monitoring demonstrations, public stormwater education and much more. Clinton clean-up has over 200 volunteers that collected 5 tons of trash, tires, building materials and other debris.
Our programs incude stream leaders, adopt-a-stream, and Clinton River coldwater conservation project (crccp). Stream leaders is our partner program where we partner local businesses with schools for the funding and mentoring for student water quality monitoring. We graduate over 4,500 students a year throught this program. Adopt-a-stream has 360 volunteers covering 50 monitoring sites. This program is done twice a year. Crccp has over 100 volunteers who work on projects that promote restoration on the paint creek tributary to the Clinton River.
The storm water education program is supported through government contracts. By the end of 2015, we conducted over 30 presentations with an attendance total of approximately 450 people. The purpose of the program is to assist communities in preparing their education requirements for the phase ii permits for the state of Michigan.
Total of remaining programs - special projects include the restororation of fish passage and stream channel by removal of paint creek dam, stream bank stabilization at yates park, green infrastructure project for stormwater management for the city of rochester and city of rochester hills. In addition to the organization's standard programs and events, we also host River walks. We offer support and outreach to other events such as earth day, wolcott mill fall festival, lake st. clair, oakland university and cranbrook water festivals, street fairs and rei customer days.
