Facilitated the administrative and financial functions of a statewide physicians/citizens coalition to educate citizens on the public policy-making process on the issues of health care financingreform. = = ———SSO™O™S™C~SOSS Worked with community leaders in organizing a northern Minnesota chapter of the coalition whose members in turn educated the ‘public the issues at the county fair, governors expo, and community meetings. Worked with leaders of two farm organizations get their groups to become coaliton partners Presented COACT's and the coalition’s recommendations for health care financing reform to policy makers at public meetings
COACT members gained Main Street's understanding of its work by canvassing business owners in central Minnesota on the ‘unaffordability of individual heaith care coverage reported in a Minnesota Farmers Union rural issues report as the number 4 financial ‘problem for smail businesses and family farms ‘Organized presentations by the state nurses association to rural media, the Annual Farm Picnic, and farmers’ event on the nurses’ ‘views of their patients’ medicai and financial distress caused by unaffordable coverage. = = ~~~ ~~ SSsstCS;<;«7«7;
The canvass listened to concerns of members and farmers on the rising costs of health coverage and discussed with them the ‘cost inefficiencies and unaccountability in the current delivery system Updated them on COACT's and the coalitions work that ‘addressed their concerns and informed them of ways to help in the work to make the delivery system more cost efficient, publicly ‘accountable, and affordable
