Promoting the development of a comprehensive statewide system of community-based services and supports for people with disabilities. Maintained a disability issues website social media sites distributed 8 e-newsletters and legislative and annual reports. Provided one-on-one technical assistance to solve individual problems. Served on 14+ workgroups committees commissions and councils promoting community inclusion of people with disabilities. Presented 15+ presentations and trainings on interactions with people with disabilities issues of children and adults with disabilities accessible parking adaptive sports employment self-advocacy special education transportation and more. Convened 19 virtual workshops on disability issues. Trained and coordinated 6+ volunteer self-advocate interns.
Promoted public awareness about disability. Planned and executed the Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival a public event and the Short Film Competition The event increased awareness about disability among the attendees the participants in the competition the general public viewing media coverage and business sponsors. Planned and conducted 10+ open mic events featuring entertainment by people with disabilities.
Support services for people with disabilities to direct personal attendants. Empowered 225+ individuals with disabilities and their families by providing consumer directed services allowing them to have more control over their lives and more involvement in community activities.
