Program areas at CCA
Child development programs provide comprehensive child development and family services that include health, dental, nutrition, education, transportation, and social services for disadvantaged children. Served a total of 416 children in the head start and early head start programs. Cca was funded for 617 head start children and 142 early head start children. Enrollment at the end of tax year 2023 (head start program year-ending 8/31) was 311 head start or 55% of capaclity and 85 early head start or 60% of capacity. This was due to staffing challenges post covid.
The housing assistance program provided subsidized monthly rent for low income families in the housing and urban development (hud) section 8 program. Coastal Community Action served 322 active tenants under the housing choice voucher program. The agency served 17 family self- sufficiency clients with 2 graduates from the program.
Housing repairs program provided home weatherization, urgent repair, single family rehabilitation, and heating appliance repair and replacement to low income, elderly and handicapped individuals and their families. Through the department of energy (doe) weatherization assistance program, cca completed 51 prjects at a cost of 744,461 through program year ending 9/30/2023. Through the low income home energy assistance prorgam (liheap), the agency completed 49 units through program year-ending 9/30/23 at a cost of 508,576. Through the heating and air repair and replacement program (haarp), the agency completed 80 units at a cost of 458,024.
Community services, senior citizen, and other programs provided funds for self sufficiency, emergency assistance, and other various support to the disadvantaged.
