Program areas at Code Savvy

Code Savvy educate: in 2023 our Code Savvy educate program helped introduce over 8,000 students to computational thinking. By providing curricula, coaching, and professional development to classrooms and educators across Minnesota, we were able to increase our reach through our cs educate programs like mncodes educator cohort, cs coaching for equity, all enhanced by our partnerships with the college of st. scholastica, csta, code.org, and the northern lights collaborative for computing education.
Code Savvy explore: 2023 saw our Code Savvy explore program take on some brand new direction. We combined our in-person events with some virual options in order to facilitate mentor-powered learning for even more students across the state. We also introduced our new create with ai program that combines artificial intelligence, visual communications, and creative coding with javascript. Through this program, we helped almost 300 people write their very first lines of Code by pair programming with a large language model. We also began providing our programming at other locations throughout the state in order to help meet people where they are to give them access to exploring more tech
Code Savvy experience: over the course of 2023, our Code Savvy experience programs made great strides in expanding our reach across the state. Our byte-sized challenge doubled the number of schools we worked with, while quadrupling the number of students who benefited from the program. The technovation girls mn challenge continued to make its climb back to pre-pandemic numbers, reaching over 60% new girls from across the state we even had one amazing team make it all the way to the global finals in silicon valley for the ai-powered app they created to help people identify microplastics in their clothing and consumables.
