Program areas at Code Switch Restorative Justice for Girls of Color
Mentorship Programs - partnered with local community agencies to provide girls and young women, aged 9-24 impacted by homelessness, intimate partner violence, and financial distress with group mentor opportunities to address education, mental health and other related challenges. Service include participation in fellowship opportunities, group restorative circles, and healing/mental health retreats.
Sponsorships, Grants, & Offerings - OEF Microgrant program provided youth of color in need of financial support, and enrolled in local K-12 schools, with funding to access educational opportunities like after school programs, extracurriculars, SAT Prep, AP exams, college applications, etc. Also hosted 63 girls for celebratory end-of-program luncheon to honor them as grant recipients and their academic achievements. Provided service opportunities for girls enrolled in our mentor programs which included supporting girls and women impacted by intimate partner violence and houselessness.
Mentorship through professional development, conferencing, and cultural immersion travel - provide mentees with travel grants to attend conferences focused on college, career, leadership, and restorative justice development. Hosted mentors/mentees on 13-day cultural immersion trip to Ghana to develop self-efficacy, knowledge of history, and a sense of agency, voice, and self-pride, all of which contribute to a healthy mindset, self-esteem socio-emotional wellbeing, mental health, and positive school and life outcomes.
