Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance revitalizes and sustains a healthy community where residents have access to resources and promotes high quality of life. Its concentration of work is focused on neighborhood stabilization, community engagement, and youth development through Teen Art Space, Youth Council, GDYT, and High Hopes Initiatives, serving 200 youth with programming centered around public leadership and job readiness training. Senior University provides support to Senior Connect for computer education and senior support needs including Appliance Assistance.

Program areas at Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance

Youth Development Youth Council received funds and and created the Cody Calm Center establishing asafe space for youth to express themselves and cope with life stressors. Prepared winter packages for homeless shelter. Engaged with city officials. Had a succesful fundraining opportunity partnering with Detroit vs Everybody. With Wayne State University distributed care pakages and went on college tour. Collaborated on a community stage project at Stein Park. Summer Youth Employment Project provided work experience to 165 youth. Youth received 120 hours of professional development, job shadowing, and hands-on experience. High Hopes programs served nearly 70 youth.
Neighborhood Stabilization - HOPE Property Tax Assistance, Completed 386 applications serving over 450 individuals with an average savings of 1,000 per applicant with total savings of 386,000. Senior University is a program designed to restore independence among seniors through digital literacy. Established a Tech Hub Utilized Comcast Lift Zone to provide free internet access to residents and stakeholders. Resources offered include 1 to computer assistance - 320 sessions, Weekly computer classes - 40 conducted, resume creation and job searching support, Computer tech support - 19 Help Desk sessions. Neighborhood Partner Sign Program - Implemented signage in all local association areas.
Community Engagement. City of Detroit Home Repair Center-served as the intake center for the program assisting over 50 residents. BIPOC Grant - Initiated Mental Health First Aid Training for Youth and Parents, Guardians, and Caretakers. ProsperUS Entreprenuer Training - successfully graduated 14 entreprenuers. Keep Cody Clean - conducted an annual clean up involving 19 volunteers. Turkey Basket Giveaway - Distributed over 150 Turkey baskets for Thanksgiving. Sponsored 70 families for Christmas with Oak Poine Church Patillo Foundation. Family Fun Day - Provided 400 school supplies to students, supported educational intitatives, promoting community engagement and the well being of local families.
