Program areas at The Diabetes Link
Peer support:young adults with Diabetes are an underserved population with limited support targeted to their unique life stage. The Diabetes Link has developed a peer support Network and model to address The needs and challenges faced by today's young adults as they transition to independent Diabetes management. We create opportunities for young adults (and The people who care for them) to build affiliation and connection around The shared experience of living with Diabetes. The Network includes hundreds of College campuses and an online community of over 12,000 young adults who are living with Diabetes across The united states.
Leadership:the Diabetes Link provides leadership and professional skills development to young adults interested in pursuing leadership opportunities across The healthcare and Diabetes sector. In 2022, we trained and supported 20 national fellows and over 150 on-campus leaders to represent The young adult Diabetes experience and advocate for their health, safety and needs to elevate their voice across The Diabetes community and build systems of support where they are needed.
Education:the Diabetes Link creates solutions to improve The quality of life for young adults living with Diabetes, enabling them to live healthier lives and be more successful in their endeavors. Our robust ecosystem fosters collaborations between young adults with Diabetes across more than 41,000 stakeholders who serve and support them; from clinicians to caregivers. Our tools and resources educate, empower, and ease The burden of self-management and self-advocacy for all young adults ages 17-26 living with Diabetes as they navigate one of life's biggest transitions.
