Program areas at Colorado Conservatory of Dance
CCDs mission is to unleash individual potential and invigorate community through dance. This mission statement is the backbone of CCDs three pillars of operations: 1) to provide nationally recognized conservatory dance training; 2) provide high-quality mainstage dance productions; and, 3) engage community in high-impact education programs that ensure dance is accessible to everyone. CCD provides leading quality dance education in classical ballet, jazz, modern, tap, contemporary, and culturally relevant styles with programs that foster community, create positive influence, and inspire the individual. 23 faculty provided instruction for over 300 youth an adult students. Offered approximately 90 low-cost training opportunities to approximately 40 professional dancers via choreographers residency programs. Provided access to dance for special needs children through Ballet Expressions program of adaptive dance. Led in-school residencies for over 800 underserved elementary school students, including performances of anti-bullying ballet for students at schools throughout the north metro Denver area. CCD provided over $70,000 in tuition assistance to students to attend conservatory classes.
CCD believes in better lives through dance and that every student deserves to receive a kinesthetically healthy dance education regardless of age, ability, aspiration, or socioeconomic status. Our community education programs reach 9000 students and family members annually. Community education and engagement programs provided free anti-bullying performances to eight elementary, middle and high school schools throughout metropolitan Denver, arts-integrated in-person Move2Learn residencies in two elementary schools and,free after-school in-personal ballet classes at four elementary schools with 200 students. New to the academic year 2022-2023, in-school dance programs 5 times per week for 200 middle and high school students. Programs served 6,551 students and their peers with in-school performance/audience participants.
Presented 12 mainstage performances (7 fall, 6 spring) to a total audience of 5,900 patrons.
