Cols launched its first participant engagement site in the summer of 2022 marking a crucial milestone in our mission to create a comprehensive Longitudinal collection of biological specimens matched with clinical health and social determinants of health data. This milestone was accomplished through two valuable collaborations with Colorado state university. First, the columbine health systems center for healthy aging (cha) facilities house our engagement. The cha team has provided expertise and resources to welcome cols participants into an inviting space. Second, the human performance clinical research laboratory (hpcrl) within the department of health and exercise science supplies the research technicians who conduct cols participant visits at the cha. Brings extensive experience conducting trials with human subjects. Cols has benefited greatly from the hpcrl's clinical managers with whom we collaborated to operationalize our research protocols. Cols successfully fundraised over 500,000 of unrestricted income which was put to work to open the engagement site and complete phase 1 (of 3) of our web portal, which allows participants to enroll, consent, complete surveys, and book appointments. We have tested and improved the "self-service" features on the portal. For example, participants may login to their account to book or reschedule their appointment at the engagement site without requiring a call to the scheduler. The portal is also tied into our survey platform so that unique survey links are automatically generated and sent to participants upon completion of their consent. These features are convenient for participants and reduce the workload on our research technicians. Finally, in december 2022 there was a shift in the executive team's roles. Phyllis wise, who served as cols ceo and president since our formation in 2017, stayed on as president, and meredith guerrero, former coo, transitioned into the role of ceo and joined the board. Cols thanks phyllis for her dedication and service as ceo and through this leadership transition.
