Program areas at Colorado School Medicaid Consortium
The Consortium provides comprehensive programming and services focused on administering the Medicaid School health services (shs) program; supporting over 54 School districts and boards of cooperative educational services (boces) across Colorado in their efforts to maximize resources and provide students with increased and equitable access to health services. Addressing the unmet health needs of over 721,505 Colorado students by providing training and consultation for shs providers and administrators; assistance with navigating shs program requirements; and informing the expansion of health services in schools, including: systems change, student health advocacy, insurance outreach and enrollment programs, local service plan development, materials, communications, workshops and quarterly meetings for School district program administrators. The organization also provides streamlined Medicaid claiming services: web-based software applications, templates, training and technical support for documentation; data entry; claims processing/submissions, quality assurance; data analysis and reporting. Major accomplishments during the 2023/2024 School year include: training over 9,488 health service providers and administrators; materials, training and support for increased Medicaid provider registration requirements; improved ui and ux for self-led training platforms, videos, guides, and online tools; advocacy for the Medicaid shs program resulting in a 29% statewide increase in reimbursements over the pryor year; and targeted support to address the specific needs of rural and urban School districts. For the fiscal year ending june 30, 2024, the Consortium processed over 6.488 million health services; provided over 9,034 hours of training; and responded to over 4,037 telephone/email support requests from school-based health providers, School Medicaid coordinators, administrators, and community health providers.
