Program areas at Columbia Slough Watershed Council
The education program provided lessons in the classroom and in the field about the Watershed, native plants, water chemistry, aquatic macroinvertebrates, soil analysis, animal habitats and adaptations, flooding and groundwater. The program had 5,244 student contacts, by providing 298 free programs including 68 Watershed field trips, 198 classroom lessons and 32 paddle lessons.
The stewardship program held 14 public events and installed 2,500 native plants. The program engaged in workforce development programming with the blueprint foundation, multnomah youth cooperative, and youth for parkrose.
Cswc serves as the fiscal sponsor of people of color outdoors. A local group whose mission is to help black, indigenous, and all people of color strengthen their connection with nature by spending time outdoors. During this year poco held 67 outings.
The community events program provided 112 free events to over 2,400 participants, including 17 educational talks, 42 community paddles, 16 cleanups, and 53 naturalist events.
