Program areas at Columbus Regional Hospital Foundation
Crhf provides support to Columbus Regional Hospital, an organization exempt from tax under irc section 501(c)(3). The Foundation also provides grants, that support medical care at crh, and scholarships to assist with those pursuing an education in the medical field. Crhf also provides support to other exempt organizations to further promote the health and well-being of the community. In 2023, crhf provided support to a community-wide initiative responding to the emergent mental health crisis in bartholomew county. Funding for this initiative (mental health matters) primarily consisted of funding for new crh employees leading the initiative.columbus Regional Hospital Foundation acts as fiduciary for our hospice of south central Indiana (ohsci) to receive and invest a portion of ohsci's cash reserve assets. As entities of the Columbus Regional Hospital system, this is an appropriate service relationship between crhf and our hospice. Crhf and our hospice also work collaboratively to raise funds for both organizations. 2023 ohsci assets managed by crhf totaled $6,439,236.
Crhf is the primary funder of healthy communities initiative, an organization whose staff is employed by Columbus Regional Hospital, and works to improve the long-term quality of life in bartholomew county through local action teams: tobacco awareness and prevention, medication assistance, infant mortality prevention, breastfeeding coalition and healthy lifestyles. Crhf subsidizes hci staff expenses and covers program expenses.
Crhf provides philanthropic support to vimcare clinic, a department of Columbus Regional Hospital and the Hospital's safety net clinic for low-income adults. Funding for vimcare covers behavorial health services, financial navigation, case management, medication assistance, and translation services.
