Common Good Atlanta broadens incarcerated individuals' access to higher education, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and society. In 2022, the organization achieved several program accomplishments with 46 students graduating from its programs across three facilities. At Metro Reentry Facility, CGA saw 26 graduates and 14 current enrollees, at Burruss Correctional Training Center there were nine graduates and five currently enrolled, and at Whitworth Women's Facility, 11 graduates completed their studies.

Program areas at Common Good Atlanta

CGA's 2022 Program Accomplishments:Over the course of 2022, 46 students graduated * Metro Reentry Facility: 26 graduates, 14 currently enrolled * Burruss Correctional Training Center: 9 graduates, 5 currently enrolled * Whitworth Women's Facility: 11 graduates, 17 currently enrolled * Philips State Prison: 14 currently enrolled (Philips is a 2-year degree program) * Community Class (transitional center and formerly incarcerated) - 3 graduates Awards: CGA wasa awarded one of the Laughing Gull Foundation Higher Education in Prison Program Grantees. Over the next two years, CGA will expand and create programming to uplift its HEP programs and students. Morehouse College was awarded a grant from the Mellon Foundation and CGA is a sub-awardee. Friends for Life Foundation granted support and expands CGA's technology capabilities in the Community Class, including the use of Chromebooks. An anonymous donor offered a challenge gift, committing to match every contribution CGA received through the end of August. Our Building a Brighter Future fundraiser was a huge success and CGA reached its goal of turning $25,000 into $50,000. United Way of Greater Atlanta awarded CGA an Organizational Capacity Building grant. The grant allowed CGA to complete the Impact Capacity Assessment Tool and supported implementation of its customized capacity building plan. Georgia Humanities granted CGA an award Expanding Access to Humanities Education project. Events: Hosted various alumni events throughout the year Publications: In partnership with Hal Jacobs and CGA Alumna Janine Battista, the documentary "Breaking Down the Walls of Mass Incarceration: Common Good Atlanta" was screened across Georgia in various theaters.Emory Digital Scholarship, CGA published our very own digital journal, Hourglass Journal. Compiled of pieces from our Alumni, this journal is a testament to the powerful, generous, brilliant, whole, and deeply kind people who have served time in prison.
