Common Place

Youth education: after-school tutoring, weekend tutoring, summer day camps, and other enrichment activities for low-income children ranging from grades kindergarten to ninth grade. The students are also mentored in life skills and participate in community outreach and service learning. On january 1, 2020, neighborhood house acquired Common Place. After months of discussions, meetings, and extensive collaborative efforts from the boards of both neighborhood house and Common Place, it was agreed this acquisition would be in the best interest of the community and people served by both organizations. Only separated by 0.5 miles, neighborhood house and Common Place already had strategic partnerships in Place and were collaborating on several existing programs. Through economies of scale, the available resources have been utilized to make a more significant impact for the people we serve, instead of wrapped up in the maintenance and security of two buildings. By providing all programs in the same location, it was more efficient and convenient for clients who have transportation barriers.
