Program areas at CAASTLC
Energy assistance: caastlc has a number of energy services programs designed to alleviate the immediate threat of utility service disconnection (i.e., electricity, gas, propane, or heating oil) and assist residents in getting utility service restored to their homes. These programs include: liheap (low income home energy assistance program), winter heating assistance, and summer cooling assistance. In fiscal year 2023, 13,689 households were assisted.
Weatherization: the weatherization assistance program is designed to reduce the impact of high home energy costs for income eligible residents by implementing energy-efficient measures that may include reducing air infiltration, installing insulation, heating system repair or replacement, and air quality assessment. Sponsored and regulated by the Missouri department of economic development, 161 homes were weatherized during fiscal year 2023.
Community services: Community programming covers a variety of services including: family and economic security - family case management, drug & alcohol education, anger management, employment development, life skills, reentry support for returning citizens; youth services - youth case management, high school equivalency test (hiset), and reality enrichment and life lessons (reall); Community outreach - poverty simulations, job fairs & hiring events, and step up to leadership; (continued on schedule o)health & nutrition - drive-through food pantry and Community supported agriculture.in fiscal year 2023, Community services program assisted 5,376 families and a total of 13,832 individuals.
Housing/rental assistance: caastlc has a comprehensive housing assistance program which includes down payment assistance, housing counseling, disaster relief, and rent/mortgage assistance. Special funds are available to St. Louis County households impacted by covid.
