Program areas at CAVC
The Community services programs assist low-income individuals and families with food assistance in collaboration with local food banks and pantries to extend the distribution system to local communities. It also provides financial and mental wellness educational workshops. Homeless clients are also provided with showers, laundry, mailing address, clothing, hygiene items and referrals for additional services.
The weatherization assistance program reduces the heating and cooling costs for low-income families by improving the energy efficiency of their homes and ensuring their health and safety. Among low-income households, the program focuses on those with elderly residents, individuals with disabilities, and families with children. Included in this program is the edision refrigerator portion where qualified homes are given replacement, energy efficient refrigerators and the old ones are recycled.
Home energy assistance & energy crisis program provides a direct payment from the department of Community services and development to an eligible familys utility bill to help offset the cost of heating or cooling their home.energy crisis intervention program provides assistance to low-income households that are in a crisis situation. Examples include a household that has received a discontinued notice or service termination by their utility company or an energy-related crisis of life-threatening emergency exists in the applicants household.
The homeless assistance program offers accesss to shower, laundry, clean clothes and a mailing address. Information and referral services to additional assistance and housing is also provided. The goal is to help clients achieve stability and self-sufficiency.
