Program areas at Community Based Connections
Students enrolled at Sunland Park Elementary School and Deerfield Beach Middle School will participate in afterschool tutorial assistance to increase their educational level of functioning. The Sunland Park Early Achievers program will enroll approximately 60 students in grades K - 2 at Sunland Park Elementary. The goal is to ensure that the children are functioning at grade level before they take the FCAT in 3rd grade. The Young Believers Program at Deerfield Beach Middle will serve up to 100 at-risk 6th graders, 7th graders, 8th graders achieving satisfactory academic performance and properly preparing for their transition to the next grade level.
S.M.A.R.T Team (Safety Management Action Response Team) Program provides intensive services to at-risk families residing in 33313 and 33311 zip codes. The SMART program collaborates with the Broward County Sheriff Department and ChildNet in monitoring safety plans, providing linkage to other community resources and providing additional support for the inv
To provide services to families at risk for child abuse and neglect and families in crisis that have their children living within the family. The program will provide home based interventions that address child abuse and neglect by (1) helping children and families resolve child rearing issues and other crisis, (2) by providing family supports that enable children to grow up in stable homes in an environment that promotes healthy child development, (3) raising neighborhood awareness of child safety issues, and (4) empowering neighborhood residents to become more involved with families at risk of abusing or neglecting their children.
Funded by Children Services Council, which uses evidence-based curriculum-Aggression Replacement Training (ART) and Giving Back Done in a Day Community Service Learning Projects to teach students social skills, anger control, moral reasoning and the meaning of community.
