Community Development and Disaster Relief Corporation

Community Development and Disaster Relief Corporation (cddrc) functions as a designated local advisor to new york state (nys) in administering the recreate ny housing recovery program. As such, cddrc provides critically-needed assistance to owners of storm-damaged homes across long island. In 2013, cddrc established a call system and questionnaire to contact homeowners negatively affected by superstorm sandy, who had pre-registered for Disaster Relief with nys, but had not yet completed the application progress. During the year, cddrc contacted approximately 3,600 homeowners, directing them to the appropriate nys programs, assisting them in the completion of their applications, or referring them to Disaster case managers, when necessary. Cddrc also facilitated the placement of application submission deadline notices in over 120 local newspapers and publications throughout nassau and suffolk counties, including those with large distributions of low and moderate-income families.
