Program areas at Viability

Supportive living (afc, residential, supportive living) - Viability's supportive living service supports offer a portfolio of options to empower people to be able to live as independently as possible in the communities and living arrangements of their choosing. These services include adult family care, residential and supportive living services. The individual is the center of service development, plans and goals are designed based upon the participants desires for their future and supports are provided with respect and dignity while maintaining health and safety. Individuals in these programs can live in their own apartments, in apartments with 24 hour supports, or with host families. Viability strives to ensure that all supportive living services provides the individual with opportunities for community integration, so they become active participants in their communities.
Community services (psycho-social clubhouse model programs, day habilitation, community-based day services) our community services are designed with respect for choice and dignity in supporting individuals to move toward independence and gain new skills. Individuals work with their teams to develop customized plans, specific to their goals and desires for their futures. Goal areas can include communication and soft skills, life skill building, health and wellness, money management, art therapy, volunteering in the community, and educational pursuits. A work-ordered day and employment are the focus of our clubhouses. Services are provided with the majority of the service day happening in the community, building social skills and ensuring individuals with disabilities have opportunities to belong and contribute to their communities.
Employment - individuals with disabilities and disadvantages are an underutilized resource for employers. Our staff of job developers and direct support professionals design service plans created with the individual's desires, strengths, learning style, and career aspirations in mind to help participants obtain competitive and integrated community employment. These individualized plans often are designed utilizing creative solutions to barriers and challenges in combination with Viability's strong employer partnership to help our participants become successfully employed. Our services include pre-employment skill building for youth and adults, job training programs, job development, group and individual placement, and long and short-term onsite job coaching with the goal of the individuals we support obtaining competitive positions.
The remainder of our funding is comprised of several smaller service categories which include youth transitional services to prepare for post-secondary life, case management, respite, recreation, transportation, corporate inclusion solutions, and grant funds. These programs and services encompass a small portion of Viability's overall operating budget.
