Nonprofit Support - The Community Foundation has a robust Professional Development for nonprofit organization in SW Colorado. We work closely with our nonprofit community to identify needs and then work with local talent and other professionals across the state to bring hands-on professional development that can bolster capacity at our local nonprofit. Our organization feels strongly that our work to make a stronger nonprofit community will in turn create a more vibrant community. As a community facilitator, the Community Foundation works to increase efficiency, sustainability, and success for nonprofits and maximize effective grant making for philanthropists to make southwest Colorado a better place to live. One of the ways we do this is by acting as a matchmaker between philanthropists' passions and the nonprofits doing the work.
Events - The Community Foundation concert series and the 19th Hole Concert Series, serving La Plata and Archuleta Counties, benefited 12 nonprofits. Along with our corporate sponsors, we conducted a competitive review, selected the nonprofits and organized the event's logistics and marketing. Then, the nonprofit went to work on PR splitting up duties and working together. Each nonprofit received at least $1,000. This was a great way to practice grant writing, share responsibility in event marketing and PR as well as have a low key event for funders and friends. Related fund raising amounts are reported on Schedule G. The community Foundation has creafted the Making a Difference speaker Series to align with our core values. We commit to bring in nationally known speakers annually to talk about their philanthropic endeavors.
Fiscal programs - the organization administers grants through fiscal sponsorships which have programs that enhance the Community. All forward adventure, bear smart, cafe au play, cancer coalition of sw Colorado, Community treehouse, daybreak solar project, durango derailers, dumpster beautification project, new face productions, pine river shares are all fiscal sponsorships.
