CALIFORNIA YOUTH LEADERSHIP CORPS (CYLC)- LEARN-AND-EARN CAREER PATHWAYS: PREPARING YOUTH WITH LOW INCOMES- INCLUDING YOUTH OF COLOR, OPPORTUNITY YOUTH, AND IMMIGRANT YOUTH-FOR COMMUNITY CHANGE CAREERS. CYLC PARTICIPANTS TAKE CREDIT BEARING COURSES LEADING TO A POSTSECONDARY CREDENTIAL IN A COMMUNITY CHANGE CAREER PATHWAY. TO ENSURE THAT STUDENTS SUCCEED, STUDENT FELLOWS ARE PART OF A COHOORT AND RECEIVE CRITICAL SUPPORTS, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, MENTORING, AND ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES WHILE ENROLLED. AN INTERAL PART OF THE CYLC MODEL IS THE PAID WORK-BASED LEARNING COMPARTMENT, WHICH PROVIDES STUDENT FELLOWS WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN MEANINGFUL WORK-BASED LEARNING WITH PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS WHO ORGANIZE IN LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES, COMMUNITIES OF COLOR, AND IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES AND PROVIDE CRITICAL SERVICES TO HISTORICALLY MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES. sTUDENT FELLOWS RECEIVE A STIPEND OF UP TO $10,000 AND A SCHOLARSHIP OF $5,000 WHILE THEY ARE ENROLLED IN THE CYLC PROGRAM.

CYLC COMMUNITY-BASED IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES CAREER PATHWAY: CYLC HAS PARTNERED WITH THE CATHOLIC LEGAL IMMIGRATION NETWORK INC. (CLINIC INC.) SELECTED COMMUUNITY COLLEGES, AND DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE-RECCOGNIZED COMMUNITY-BASED IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES ORGANIZATIONS TO CREATE A NEW COMMUNITY CHANGE LEARN-AND-EARN CAREER PATHWAY IN COMMUNITY-BASED IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES. tHIS COMMUNITY-BASED IMMIGRATION LEGAL SERVICES PATHWAY FELLOWSHIP WILL EXPAND THE NUMBER OF WELL-TRAINED ADVOCATES, PRACTITIONERS, PARALEGALS, LEGAL ASSISTANTS, AND NONPROFIT LEADERS IN UNDERSERVED IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES. FELLOWS WHO PARTICIPATE WILL BE AWARDED UP TO $10,000 IN STIPEND AND AWARDED A $5,000 SCHOLARSHIP.
