Program areas at Community Outreach and Patient Empowerment Program
Activities related to Community health made up the largest portion of the fy2023 budget in terms of expenses. In fy2023, cope continued to work with partners including individuals and organizations to promote access to health services and healthy food on navajo nation. Cope continued to collaborate with local partners from health facilities and retailers to expand the reach of the cope navajo fruit and vegetable prescription Program (fvrx) to promote access of fruits and vegetables and facilitate healthy and prosperous communities. Cope continued to offer training, educational materials and educational aides to health educators and Community health representatives and had continued Community cancer Program initiatives. Cope also supported, in an ongoing basis, key work related to the covid-19 response and ongoing collaborative activities and public messaging.
The third largest portion of the fy2023 Program budget went to capacity building activities designed to strengthen cope and to broaden the reach of cope's programs. Expenditures were allocated toward staff who are dedicated to activities such as administration, human resources, and operations.
Community partnership activities in fy2023 comprised the second largest portion of the budget in terms of expenses. Much of this budget reflects subrecipients, contracts, and support directed toward cope's Community partners who play central roles in programming including food access efforts, Program evaluation, Community health worker certification, and other coalition work. Cope also served as fiscal sponsor to a Community- based organization as another approach to support local capacity building.
