Program areas at Community Services Solutions
To provide in-home supportive services for the community of Mono County in California. These services include but are not restricted to the operation of registeries to screen providers before they go into senior citizens homes so that abuse and neglect are reduced. Additionally, providers are screened for alcohol and drug use, and any prior history of elderly abuse. Proveders give services to low income seniors and disabled so that they may stay in their homes and not go to nursing homes.
We administer the Reentry Coordination Program for the Mono County Sheriff's Department. We meet with inmates at the Couty Jail during their incarceration and create individualized plans for inmates to assist with their transition back into society. We set up services for counseling, substance abuse treatment, domestic violence classes, DUI classes, housing, employment assistance, and other essential services. We also help inmates enroll in health insurance and food stamps.
We chair and facilitate the IHSS Advisory Committee in Mono County for the purposes of making recommendations to the Board of Supervisorts about efficient delivery of countrywide services to IHSS consumers, program implemenation, program updates, and distribution of program service materials. WE administer the USDA's SNAP-Ed nutrition education program for Mono, Alpine, and Inyo Counties. Through this program, we provide rutrition education, and physical activity interventions to residents who utilize, or are likely eligible, for food stamps (SNAP). We teach nutrition and physical activity lessons to students in K-12 schools; host taste tests of fruits and vegetables at schools and food banks; and strategize with school administration and county partners to create healthier schools and communities through policy, systems, and environmental changes.
