Community Transit of Watertown Sisseton

Increased service in our designated areas- Driver logged 724,283 miles and provided 182,002 rides in FY 2023. Highly Rural Transportation Grant is a grant which allows Community Transit to transport veterans in the lesser populated countries to and from medical appointments across the region. CTWSI works with DAV groups in Roberts and Grant counties - two counties which do not qualify as highly rural counties - to provide transportation to and from medical appointments for veterans across the region. CTWSI recently entered into a contract with The Sioux Falls Veterans Administration to provide transportation for Veterans (any location) to and from medical appointments at VA clinics and hospitals. (This is a contract and is different from the two grants listed prior). CTWSI is a member of the South Dakota Transit Providers Association, the Dakota Transit Associations, and the Community Transportation Association of America. CTWSI administrators and staff have attended conferences/training sessions in Oklahoma City, OK (CTAA), Minot, ND (DTA), San Diego, CA (FTA Drug and Alcohol Training), Financial Communications, Transit software and other miscellaneous trainings provided by the SD Dept. of Transportation and FTA Trainings in Pierre, SD; ADA/Civil Rights and Human Trafficking seminars in Spearfish, SD; Narcan Training in Sisseton, SD (This training recently resulted in one employee saving a life). Employees received training regarding workplace harrassment, driver safety and fire saftety in Watertown, SD. CTWSI continues to update its fleet of vehicles.
