Program areas at Community Youth Development of Sarasota County
Community Youth Development of Sarasota is a variety of programs and experiences for middle and high school Youth designed to build skills, develop healthy habits for leisure time, and foster connections with positive peers and adults. Youth grow with their experiences in cyd, seeking new skills and more challenging experiences. Cyd offers a variety of programs designed to build communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills. Cyd also offers social programs for teens age 12-14. In addition to social activities, cyd offers programs in the realm of leadership Development, Community service, and Development of 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, adaptability, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving. 1,487 Youth were served in more than 100 activities.
The srqvolunteen program uses a service learning model wherein Youth participate in Community service and reflect on the impact and lessons learned for application throughout their lives. For middle school aged Youth, srqvolunteen offers training in communication, group work and problem solving through the lens of creating Community service projects to benefit the Community. For high school aged Youth, srqvolunteen offers Youth a variety of ways to connect to service including monthly service activities, a website featuring opportunities specifically targeting teens, and support to create and implement projects of their own choosing. 351 Youth of the 2,013 Youth served in this program
Students taking active roles, or star leadership trainingleaders are not born - they're developed! We offer interested high school students the opportunity to develop their current skills, or learn new ones through this interactive training program. Teens may be eligible to receive academic credit for completing this course! After completing the training, students may be appointed to serve as a full voting member on not-for-profit boards of directors or on governmental advisory boards. 175 Youth of the 2,013 served in this program.
