Program areas at Concerned Christian Men
The Concerned Christian Men were able to build on the internally produced after school program created last year. This program is designed to give students hands on experiences that allow them to see themselves as entrepreneurs, health professionals, educators, and politicians. Students are continuing to run a school store, record podcasts, and film short documentaries about issues related to education, health, and their local community. The program continues to be very well received by schools, students, and parents.
The boys that participated our programs received points for their program participation and school performance. The top 50 young Men in the program received scholarships to attend beechpoint Christian camp in allegan Michigan for 5 days and 4 nights. These boys participated in character development sessions, basketball tournaments, and contest in swimming, fishing, archery, bike riding, and many other fun activities. The ccm summer camp serves as both a reward and leadership retreat for the young Men we know will have a positive impact on their families and communities for years to come.
Over 800 young Men from 18 cps schools that receive 100 free and reduced lunch services participated in our monthly flagship program, the man boy breakfast during the last fiscal year. Our program integrated monthly themes designed to challenge the boys to become Men of integrity. The keynote speakers for these events have included business executives, attorneys, and tv personalities. The young Men also participated in basketball tournaments and received monthly essay assignments based on the common core. In addition to this ccm has partnered with other local mentoring organizations to enhance our man boy breakfast with high quality break out sessions. These boys also had opportunities to participate in other programs including our book give away where we gave away over 1,200 books to 4th-5th grade boys., other activities include bible lessons, career day events, and oratory contest, all of our programs are designed to challenge the boys to become Men of integrity, build long term academic and career based plans, and inspire them to give back to their families and communities
