Program areas at Concho Valley Community Action Agcy

Through a combination of federal grants and private corporate donations the agency provided utility assistance to 4751 low-income individuals. The program assists with electric, gas, and propane payments made directly to energy service providers to prevent disconnections and alleviate budget constraints for struggling families. A partnership with the city of san angelo and a pilot federal program allowed the agency to assist an additional 2212 individuals with their water bills.
The weatherization assistance program provides energy conservation measures such as weather stripping, insulation, and the replacement of inefficient appliances. Through these efforts, which have a lifespan of 15 years, the program lowers energy bills for low-income households, keeps homes cool in the summer and warm in the winter, and reduces the load on our energy grid. In 2023, the agency updated 56 homes, resulting in over $15,000 of savings in the first year alone.
The agency provides a variety of housing programs to assist both individuals experiencing homelessness and those who are at risk of becoming homeless. Utilizing multiple funding sources in 2023, the agency assisted 222 homeless households with safe, temporary shelter, 166 homeless households were placed into permanent housing. For those at risk of homelessness, program services kept families in their homes with 327 households avoiding eviction and 18 households avoiding foreclosure.
Community services block grant - provides comprehensive assistance to the agency. Through this comprehensive agency assistance, low-income persons are assisted in making the transition out of poverty and are educated on services available to them through other service providers.
