Coa provides monetary grants of up to 2,500 each to individuals and organizations for research in the field of malacology and to support educational projects.
For over 30 years, coa has sponsored a trophy for shell shows held each year in the us and abroad. The coa award is given to the exhibit at each shell show that best increases the interest in shells.
Coa publishes a quarterly magazine, american conchologist, (circulation of approximately 1,200) to share information on shells and shelling with all members of the organization and the general public. Emphasis of the magazine is education.
Coa maintains a website as an educational resource for the advancement of malacology and conchology.
