Program areas at Connecticut Center for Nonviolence
Changemake Nonviolence youth leadership, for students attendingfive crec high schools and middle schools. Ctcn provides ongoing kingiannonviolence conflict management, arts infused, training for ninth gradestudents and other grade levels throughout the full academic year in crecscivic leadership high school, aerospace middle and high school, greaterhartford arts academy, and impact academy high school. Training funded by the crec (capital region educational council).
The ct state police has contracted the Center to conduct ongoing inservice training for state police recruits for every new recruit cohort that goes through the police academy.
Professional development for teachers and administrative staff for five crecschools, have been receiving kingian Nonviolence training in the summer for a week-long institute and throughout the academic year as a way of creating a culture of Nonviolence throughout the school. Ctcn is on call to support the training sessions and assist as mentors to the teachers. Funding provided by the crec school system.
