Program areas at Connecticut Oral Health Initiative

The Connecticut Oral Health Initiative (COHI),a 501(c)(3) organization, promoted oral health for all residents in Connecticut with a focus on the most vulnerable populations, including low-income families, children, and older adults. In partnership with stakeholders, providers, and health advocates, we accomplished: 1)Secured a 25% increase in adult rates for all dental services and an additional increase for endodontic services (the first adult dental rate increase since 2008).2) Expanded coverage for second annual cleanings authorized for adults on Medicaid who have certain medical conditions.3) Expanded Medicaid (HUSKY) to children up to 12 years old, regardless of immigration status.4) Completion of the Medicaid Gap Analysis Report of Oral Health Care for Adults in Connecticut.5) Completion of Every Smile Counts - Children's Report.
Use of donated toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss for use by low-income participants - $1,500.
Donation of booth ar the Connecticut State Dental Association annual Charter Oak Dental Conference for recruitment purposes - $1,700.
