Program areas at Connellsville Area Community Ministries
The care and share boutique is our clothing, housewares, and furniture thrift shop. We accept donations of all clean, usable clothing, household items and furniture. All proceeds from the sale of items help support all of the ministries and overhead expenses. The items may also be used in our crisis program and given to families in need who have experienced a loss beyond their control such as a fire, flood or theft.
Food pantry: the food pantry continues to be the largest food pantry in fayette county. We distribute government supplied food and produce, as well as over 100,000 of publicly donated food each year. This distributions process provides fresh food to 400 households (up to 2,000 people) on a typical month through four Area pantries.
Crisis: provided crisis assistance to 201 families benefiting 267 adults and 142 children through assistance with utilities, rent assistance, auto repairs and provided emergency transient shelter. Provided medical equipment on 189 different occasions.
Clothing boutique: provided clothing at steeply discounted prices from public donations. Provided in-kind donations to 328 families. Kidcare: the kidcare ministry assisted older children through the supply of clothing, bedding, and diapers. They continue to provide weekend backpacks of food to 55 children at springfield elementary school. In an effort to help children succeed in school, the ministry supplied 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to families that participate in the food pantry program and to springfield elementary school. Pump: organized three pump (people under mission to people) teams in 2017 that served on seven different projects. These projects comprised of building ramps to provide handicap accessibility to homes and making repairs for low income househoulds. In the summer of 2020, these groups completed 10 projects throughout the Community.
