Program areas at Conquistador Historical Foundation

The Conquistador Historical Foundation was created for charitable, literacy and educational purposes. The objective of the corporation is to investigate and study the history of the spanish explorer hernando desoto and his historic landing in manatee county, Florida and, in doing so, to preserve the historic traditions of the past. The Conquistador Historical Foundation established the hernando desoto Historical society, desoto heritage festival and the arthur e. campbell museum. The museum is open to the public tuesday through friday, 10am - 5pm. Several collaborative programs are in process with other community organizations. An exchange student program with barcarrota, spain (bradenton's sister city) has existed for over two decades.
