Constellation's kaleidoscope of connections season ran from july 2022 to july 2023. The Company's 16th season brought three shows back to the source Theatre and produced Constellation's first fully in-person shows since the pandemic. This renaissance reintroduced the Theatre to the vibrant u st. corridor as well as the dc area and beyond. While adhering to cdc guidelines and taking cues from dc-area theatres, it was an honor to safely welcome audiences back to enjoy our colorful season. The fall of 2022 saw our production of the vibrant afro-caribbean musical, once on this island. (continued on schedule o) then, in the beginning of 2023, we took audiences on adventures through the mind with incognito and had them laughing hysterically at the school for lies. In order to prioritize the safety of our artists, staff, and audience members, artists were masked throughout the production process while audience members were masked throughout each shows' performance run. Additionally, covid-19 vaccination was required of all collaborators.once on this island (september 29 - november 6, 2022)as the show opens, a child is terrified by a tropical storm, and the community comes together to comfort her with a story. On an island where people are separated by color and class, the four gods (earth, water, love and death) place a bet. A young girl leaves her humble upbringing to pursue her true love, the prince, only to be faced with an impossible choice. With calypso-flavored music and fantastical storytelling, once on this island is a celebration of hope and kindness that will nourish your soul.incognito (february 10 - march 12, 2023) a fascinating, transatlantic mystery that spans the 20th century, interweaving three stories and 20 characters, played by an ensemble of four actors. A scientist obsesses about dissecting albert einstein's brain in search of physical clues to explain his brilliant mind. A musician suffers a seizure and forgets everything except his love for his devoted fiance. A neuropsychologist struggles with her past, while experiencing her first romance with another woman. This compelling drama will touch your heart and captivate your mind.the school for lies (april 27 - may 28, 2023) in the heart of paris, the beautiful, young widow celimene hosts a posh salon and entertains her guests with satiric impressions of society's dilettantes. Her many suitors specialize in flamboyant fashion, obsequious flattery, and atrocious poetry. When frank, a british traveler, arrives dressed in boring black and ready to call out hypocrisy with sharp humor and acidic cynicism, celimene meets her match. This riotous farce is a high-tempo roller-coaster glittering with witty wordplay and giddy love affairs that will set your heart aflutter.in addition to Constellation's return to in-person Theatre, we also added four new staff members to the team; marketing manager aj williamson, development manager anne marie wells, production manager samuel klaas, and managing director anderson wells. With vigor and excitement, Constellation Theatre Company is proud to welcome audiences back to our larger-than-life productions.
