Program areas at Construction Apprenticeship and Workforce Solutions
Training scholarships - caws secured, coordinated and managed a variety of resources to support skills training for youth, women and people of color across portland's pre-apprenticeship training programs and through the innovative community benefit agreement.
Construction summer program - caws through a partnership with boli integrated Construction industry work experience with the successful summer works program and connected over 25 diverse youth with summer work experience opportunities across the Construction industry and related occupations.
Individual contractor investment - caws oversaw the continued provision of technical assistance services targeting minority, women and disadvantaged business enterprises, which provided approximately 13 firms with access to technical assistance, direct investment, and capacity building services over the course of the year.
Increase access to the industry- caws updated its Construction careers guide, and invested and partnered in a series of youth and adult Construction themed job fairs, career exploration activities and industry awareness events connecting hundreds of women, youth and people of color with resurging career paths available across the portland metropolitan area Construction industry and updated its Construction careers guide.
