Program areas at Contra Costa Economic Partnership
Ccep serves as the fiscal agent for earn & learn. Earn & learn coordinates with the schools, colleges, and businesses, across California to provide effective work-based learning opportunities. Work-based learning provides students with the knowledge and skills that will help them connect school experiences to real-life, work activities, and future career opportunities. A quality work-based learning program is an integral part of a comprehensive program that integrates academic courses and career technical education. Examples of work-based learning include workplace tours, informational interviews, internships, job shadowing and teacher externships.
Ccep's third largest program was the development of a graphic report highlighting key metrics related to children's health, wellness, education, and access to services that set the foundation for generational Economic opportunity. In addition, this research provided timely and relevant data to the Contra Costa children's leadership council as they prepare to re-double their efforts in the years to come. The report was developed in collaboration with our partners at children now, first 5 Contra Costa, and the dean & margaret lesher foundation.
Ccep's second largest program was a continuation of our work facilitating the Contra Costa equitable Economic recovery task force (cceertf). The covid-19 pandemic amplified systemic barriers to Economic opportunity in Contra Costa county. In this follow-up year of work, we produced a report, "shared prosperity" that summarized the work of the ccertf. We also did additional work focused on the healthcare workforce and produced a summary report called "meeting the demand: healthcare workforce in Contra Costa county." This report focused on the need for increased numbers of six types of healthcare workers: community health workers, laboratory technicians, imaging technicians, respiratory therapists, behavioral health workers of all kinds and specialty nurses. Ccep launched and co-led this work with funding and support from the Contra Costa workforce development board and Contra Costa employment & human services department.
