Program areas at Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries
Interfaith youth initiative (ifyi): during the summer, the ifyi program brings together high school and college youth from different religious traditions to live and learn together, and to learn from one another, in the spirit of building interfaith understanding. Graduate theological students are leaders and mentors during the summer program and during follow-up programs throughout the year.
Social justice: under the construct of "just peace", cmm leads and collaborates with other organizations in programs to promote social justice in many areas, including housing and homelessness, youth violence, under-employment, discrimination, and re-entry after incarceration. In 2015, cmm initiated a new program called "values over violence" which seeks, among other goals, to work with youth to choose non-violent ways of dealing with conflict.
Spirituality and healing: through its ruah and other programs, cmm seeks to encourage dialogue and interfaith understanding, as well as transformative and creative forms and practices of spirituality in the context of the urgent realities of our world, through workshops, classes, retreats and other educational forums.
The purpose of boston bridges is to provide outstanding individuals the opportunity to develop sustained relationships with peers from different religious and cultural contexts, and to refine and deepen their leadership skills for service in a diverse society.
