Program areas at Coraopolis Community Development Corporation

The neighborhood partnership program is a six-year grant that we received to do revitalization work in Coraopolis. 2023 was year 2 of the grant. We use the funding for projects like the facade improvement grant for local small businesses, the installation of public art, the purchase and renovation of the ccdc office space and resource center, salary support, and some social service funds.
The long-neglected p&le passenger station at mill street and neville way was built by the firm of shepley, rutan & coolidge, successors of henry hobson richardson, and completed in the spring or summer of 1896.the station,a valuable example of richardson romanesque architecture, was listed on the national register of historic places (79002156) in 1978, but sadly has been exposed to the elements for years due to a deteriorating roof. The ccdc purchased the station to restore the building for use by the Community for special events and programs.
The Coraopolis food pantry began in 2011 when the bus to moon township stopped running and the ccdc began seeing an increase in clients in need of food. The pantry began as a "grocery store" that allowed clients to shop for the food they needed. The pantry began by serving 35 families a month and now serves over 400 families each month. Due to covid-19, the pantry is now drive-up only. The Coraopolis food pantry is a member agency of the greater pittsburgh Community food bank (gpcfb). The ccdc purchases food at a discounted rate from the gpcfb and participates in food safety trainings to ensure the highest standards for our pantry. The food pantry serves Coraopolis, moon township, neville island, crescent township, and groveton. This program includes food pantry and snack pack program
