CORE Tanzania

CORE is committed to high quality education in rural Tanzania. We provide grants to Twegashe Integral Development (TID), a Tanzanian NGO, whose current major program is to construct and operate Twegashe Primary School in Bushasha Village, Tanzania. In January 2023, we welcomed 30 kindergartners to Twegashe bringing current enrollment to 120 students in grades K-3. In 2023, CORE continued to raise funds for Phase 2 of the school construction project. The $720K project includes the construction of the 4-7 grade classrooms, library, teacher housing and administrative offices, as well as funding school operations for three years. During 2023, we completed construction of the classrooms and ended the year $73K over our campaign goal! CORE is committed to high quality education. Our school program emphasizes community engagement, strong academics and a focus on the whole child. Classroom instruction is in English so students will be successful in secondary school. We provide a nutritious breakfast and lunch for children, with fruits and vegetables from our school garden. We are committed to environmental sustainability. The school buildings are powered by solar energy and we use composting toilets. We also promote environmental sustainability through the curriculum and programs aimed toward the wider community. Bushasha village community engagement is high, with over 116 volunteers in 2023! (continued on Schedule O)
