Program areas at Council for the Advancement of Science Writing

NEW HORIZONS IN SCIENCE: Launched in 1963, CASW's oldest program provides science writers an annual look over the horizons of scientific research and an expert analysis of important issues at the interface of science, journalism, and society. Once a standalone event, New Horizons is now part of the ScienceWriters conference co-organized by CASW and the National Association of Science Writers.
THE TAYLOR/BLAKESLEE UNIVERSITY FELLOWSHIPS: CASW has supported graduate training in science writing since 1981. The Taylor/Blakeslee Fellowships support master's-level training and provide small grants and mentorship to support enterprise reporting projects by fellows after they graduate.
CASW CONNECTOR: CASW Connector is an online library of curated resources for science journalism and communication that launched in July 2023. In addition to a searchable website of resource links, Connector keeps science writers connected and informed through a newsletter and periodic virtual Connector Chats.
OTHER PROGRAMS: SCIENCE JOURNALISM THE NATIONAL SCIENCE-HEALTH-ENVIRONMENT REPORTING FELLOWSHIPS THE VICTOR COHN PRIZE FOR EXCELLENCE IN MEDICAL SCIENCE REPORTING THE EVERT CLARK/SETH PAYNE AWARD ComSciCon AND CONFERENCE TRAVEL GRANTS
