Program areas at Council of American Jewish Museums
In november of 2022, the Council of American Jewish Museums held its annual conference in new york city, on the theme of "re/imagining: the future of culturally specific Museums" - in partnership with the association of african American Museums. Building on several years of focused work with its membership on diversity and inclusion, and its decades of relationships with other culturally specific Museums, the conference was a landmark program in the museum field and in Jewish culture, at large. The conference was attended by more than 300 key colleagues in person (additional online) engaged in multi-cultural conversations around issues common shared by many identity Museums, yet addressed with their own cultural understandings.
The Council of American Jewish Museums continued developing new strategies for Museums countering antisemitism, and was named as part of the first national strategy to counter antisemitism in may of 2023, to further its work in partnership with the institute of museum and library services.
The Council of American Jewish Museums conducted a field study of its member institutions, stakeholder interviews, strategic workshops with its board and an independent planning team, and released its new strategic framework for 2023 - 2026 on its website.
