Description
COUP Council retains Lakota culture and builds collective power to bring justice and healing in the heart of Oceti Sakowin territory. It trained individuals for a week on MMIW, held a march with speakers, organized cultural events, provided decolonization training, and hosted youth events for the community. Additionally, it created a tenant union to support legal access for tenants facing eviction and sent a delegation to the national tenant union convention. COUP Council also successfully organized a cooperative and completed a capital campaign to purchase property in Rapid City, SD.
