Court Appointed Special Advocate of San Benito County trains and supports community volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children placed in foster care. The program upholds the children's rights while pursuing a safe and permanent home. In 2021-2022, CASA of San Benito County successfully advocated for 38 foster children aged 0 to 21 who are in the Dependency System (foster care system) of San Benito County.

Program areas at Court Appointed Special Advocate of San Benito County

In order to best serve the needs of foster children from San Benito County, CASA works collaboratively with other stakeholders in the community. Over the years, CASA of San Benito County has established itself as a strong leader for childrens causes. At this time, CASA is actively involved with the San Benito County Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC), Childrens System of Care (CSOC), Foster Youth Services (FYS), School Attendance Review Board (SARB), San Benito County Health and Human Services Agency and Behavioral Health. Additionally, in the past 11 years, CASA has been partnering with four other human services organizations, Community Food Bank of San Benito County, Emmaus House, Sun Street Centers, legal senior services, for the annual 12 Days of giving campaign to raise funds for holiday activities and other operational needs throughout the year.CASA of San Benito County provides essential services to children and youth between the ages of 0 and 21. There are no other organizations like CASA providing advocacy, support, and resources for foster children from San Benito County. CASA is unique in its approach as it is child-focused, it strives to ensure foster children from San Benito County receive needed services and to ensure their safety and well-being while in the foster care system. By partnering with local organizations and service providers, it is CASAs intention to provide opportunities for youth in foster care to feel supported, provided with access to extra-curricular and enrichment activities, and a sense of connection to their community.This year we were able to recruit 6 new volunteers to advocate for our foster care children in the County. We hosted 3 presentations for recruitments and 2 presentations for fundraising purposes. We also organized our big fundraiser of the year Sip, Savor and Celebrate with 115 attendees and more than 15 volunteers.
