Program areas at HPS
Provide infusion therapies and therapy support to the community. 949 people were served through infusion services in 2022. Therapies include parenteral nutrition, enteral therapy, antibiotic therapy, chemotherapy, hydration therapy, pain management, negative pressure wound therapy, and specialty pharmacy. Services include pharmacy oversight, supplies and nursing for alternate site settings. Through these services, Home parenteral services works with various organizations to provide charity care to the community, including the medicaid population. See schedule o for more information.
Hospice usually begins when patients are diagnosed with a life expectancy of six months or less, and the patient chooses not to seek curative treatment. Patients and families benefit most when hospice begins early. the goal is for patients to be as comfortable and pain free as possible so they may spend the last chapter of life with dignity surrounded by family and friends. the family also receives extensive support to help them through this difficult time.
Our Home care services are designed to help people of all ages live independently in the comfort of their own Home. When a patient needs a little assistance to maintain an active lifestyle, care after surgery or help to be able to remain at Home, we evaluate their exact needs and develop a customized plan just for them. Coxhealth at Home can provide as much or as little care as needed ranging from a few hours a week to round-the-clock care. With one call to Coxhealth at Home patients can access every service, resource and option available to help someone remain independent a Home.
Coxhealth at Home's palliative care physicians and nurses can help provide relief from symptoms pain, and the stress patients and their families experience while living with serious illness. Working in concert with the patient's team of physicians and nurses, our palliative care program is a consultation service that provides an extra layer of support the patient so often needs. Palliative care, which is covered under medicare part b, mo healthnet, and some private insurance, is for those who: have a life limiting illness of one to two years, might still require and want treatment toward a cure, desire an enhanced quality of life, would like emotional, physical, and spiritual support, need pain management and control of distressing symptoms.
